Bulk backlink checker

Up to 5,000 individual backlinks for a domain, with anchor text, source page and follow status, plus a summary of the whole link profile. Served from our own crawl index.

What comes back
  • Up to 5,000 backlink rows with anchor and follow status
  • Referring domains, inbound and outbound totals, page count
  • Dofollow and nofollow split, EDU and GOV counts
  • Derived signals worked out from those figures

Sign in to have requests proxied and your key kept off the page. Outbound links in the table are nofollow.

Reading a link profile

A backlink checker lets you look past a headline authority score and inspect the pages linking to a domain. Use it when researching an expired-domain purchase, reviewing your own link profile or finding relevant sources for outreach. DomDetailer returns links observed in the Pretty backlink index, with a summary and up to 5,000 individual rows per request.

Here, bulk means a list of backlink rows for the domain you enter. The browser form checks one domain at a time. To screen many domains first, use the bulk DA, PA and Trust Flow checker; for automated backlink requests across a list, read the backlinks API reference.

What each backlink column tells you

Follow
Follow and Nofollow describe the link attribute recorded by the crawl. They do not promise how a search engine will treat that link today. A nofollow link can still be relevant and send visitors; an unrelated follow link is not automatically valuable.
Anchor text
This is the observed linked text. If it is empty, the tool displays the source page's title as a fallback; that title is not the original anchor. If both are missing, you see a placeholder. Repeated phrases are worth examining, but branded links and navigation can repeat naturally.
Source page
The page that the index recorded as linking to the target. Open a selection of sources to check current availability, topic, placement and surrounding text. A crawl observation does not guarantee that a page or link still exists.
Target page
The destination URL recorded for that link. Check whether it points to the homepage, a useful article, an image or an old URL that no longer works. For an auction candidate, links aimed at vanished content may need a suitable destination; buying a domain alone does not restore that content.

Read the summary alongside the rows

Inbound links counts observed links; referring domains counts distinct linking domains. Compare them to see whether many rows come from a small number of sites. Dofollow, Nofollow and Nofollow share describe the observed split. Pages crawled and outbound links help you understand the site's own footprint; EDU and GOV counts identify links from those domain types, not an automatic quality grade.

The Signals panel calculates ratios from this summary without another request. Its thresholds are screening heuristics. Repeated links can come from site navigation, shared hosting does not prove coordination, and a particular follow ratio does not prove manipulation. The guide to reading SEO metric combinations explains why manual checks matter. Language, server and keyword displays appear only when the response includes those fields.

An illustrative backlink result

The following invented rows explain the output. They were not fetched from the API and are not actual backlinks to example.com.

Illustrative rows only; no live research results
FollowAnchor textSource pageTarget page
FollowExample gardening guidehttps://example.org/resourceshttps://example.com/gardening
Nofollowexample.comhttps://example.net/discussionhttps://example.com/

For the first row, check that the source discusses gardening and that the destination is useful. For the second, investigate the discussion's context rather than discarding it solely because it is nofollow. With real results, inspect several sources from different domains before judging the profile. The row order is not a quality ranking.

Choose the scope and export you need

Select Whole domain for the broader domain lookup, or This subdomain only when you want the entered hostname's profile. Enter the specific subdomain when using that option. For outreach research, One link per referring domain reduces repeated sources so that more distinct websites can fit in the result cap. It does not necessarily select the best link from each site.

Use the table's search to narrow the rows and export CSV or Excel for review. Exports respect the active search filter, so clear it first if you want every returned row. The export contains the returned list, not every link in the summary. Large profiles can exceed the 5,000-row cap; the endpoint currently offers no pagination beyond it.

Follow up a 5,000-domain auction list

  1. Import the auction CSV into the bulk domain metrics tool. Keep the original export with auction prices and closing times.

  2. Compare DA, Trust Flow, referring domains and topical fit, then make a manageable shortlist. Backlink inspection is a separate request from the metrics check.

  3. Enter each shortlisted domain here. Start with one link per referring domain to inspect source diversity, then use the fuller view only when repeated links need investigation.

  4. Save the rows and your notes. Check live source pages and historical site content before bidding; a score or a chart cannot substitute for these checks.

Request budget example

5,020credits / example shortlist

For example, checking metrics for 5,000 submitted domains and backlinks for 20 shortlisted domains uses 5,020 credits at the current request rates. Repeating a lookup with another scope or option is another request. Exports and charts use results already returned and make no extra API call.

Plan your budget

Cost per 1,000 backlink lookups

1,000credits / 1,000 lookups

One domain lookup costs 1 credit, including its summary and up to 5,000 rows. One thousand lookups use 1,000 credits: $1.36 of the entry pack's value, or $0.79 at the largest pack's unit rate. This is a usage equivalent, not a separate 1,000-request package. Whole packs start at $34. See backlink lookup prices and credit packs for the current options.

Backlink checker questions

Is this a free backlink checker?

The browser interface has no additional fee, but a backlink request costs 1 DomDetailer credit. That request includes up to 5,000 rows and a profile summary. Purchase a credit pack or use your existing balance. Credits do not expire.

Can I check several domains in a single browser submission?

This form checks one domain or subdomain per submission and returns its backlinks in bulk. For an auction list, first shortlist domains with the bulk DA and Trust Flow checker, then inspect each shortlist candidate here. The API can be used for automated lists.

Can I retrieve every backlink for a very large website?

No. A request returns up to 5,000 rows and there is no pagination through the remaining links. The profile summary can cover a larger observed set. One link per referring domain reduces repeated sources but is still subject to the row cap.

Does no backlinks found mean the domain has no links?

No. It means no rows were found for that request in the Pretty index. Crawl coverage and the selected domain scope affect the result. Check the hostname and scope, and compare other data sources before concluding that a domain has no backlinks.

Does a Follow link guarantee ranking value?

No. Follow describes the link attribute observed by the crawl. Relevance, placement, current availability and how search engines interpret the source still matter. Nofollow links can also bring visitors. A profile ratio or warning is a prompt to investigate, not proof of a penalty.
