DomDetailer
Since 2015

We sell the numbers, not the subscription.

DomDetailer exists because two of the most useful datasets in SEO were priced for agencies with retainers, not for someone working through a drop list on a Sunday evening. Eleven years later that is still the job: hold the licences, run the infrastructure, and sell access by the lookup.

How we got here

Eleven years, one idea.

Each step below came from the same constraint: making good data affordable enough to use on the whole list, not just the shortlist.

  1. 2015

    Built for one problem

Domain Hunter Gatherer needed Moz and Majestic numbers for every domain it surfaced. Holding accounts at both cost more than most of its users made from domaining. DomDetailer was built so those metrics could be bought by the lookup instead.

  2. 2016

    Opened to everyone

What started as plumbing for one product became a service anyone could buy credits for, with a free Windows client and an API other developers could integrate.

  3. 2017-2022

    Other tools built on it

Scrapebox, GSA Search Engine Ranker, Cora and Servya each wired DomDetailer into their own workflows. Most of them ask their users for a DomDetailer key directly, so the cost sits with whoever runs the checks.

  4. 2023

    We started crawling ourselves

Reselling other people's metrics has a floor on what it can cost. Pretty - our own crawl and link index - was the way under that floor, and the way to answer questions the licensed feeds could not.

  5. 2025

    Backlink rows, not just totals

Pretty grew far enough to return the individual links behind a number: anchor text, source page, follow status. That is the part competitors charge a subscription for.

  6. 2026

    Rebuilding the index properly

Pretty V2 treats the web as one directed graph, keeps nofollow, sponsored and UGC as separate attributes, and records when each link was first and last seen. It is being brought online endpoint by endpoint behind the existing API.

How we operate

Three things we hold to.

You keep what you paid for

Credits do not expire, because an allowance that evaporates at the end of the month is a subscription wearing a different hat.

A zero is an answer

When a source has no record of a domain we return zero and say so, rather than inventing a plausible-looking number. In Pretty V2 a link is only called lost once we have re-crawled the page and not found it.

Your key stays yours

Signed-in requests are proxied server-side so the key never reaches the browser. The desktop app stores it in the operating system keychain, not a settings file.

Start at 25,000 lookups for $34.

One balance covers the browser tools, the desktop app and the API. Nothing renews, nothing expires, and you can stop using it for six months without losing anything.
