What the categories represent
Majestic Topical Trust Flow models influence within topics. A category comes with its own 0–100 score. It describes link-derived topical evidence, rather than a human review of the site's current content.
DomDetailer returns up to three category and value pairs: majesticTTF0Name with majesticTTF0Value, then the equivalent fields numbered 1 and 2. Keep each name beside its own value in an export.
Category scores are not percentage shares. Do not add them to 100 or say that a value of 20 means 20% of the backlinks belong to that category.
Compare a candidate with your intended use
Write down the topic and audience of the project before sorting candidates. That makes it easier to separate a suitable domain from an impressive score on an unrelated subject.
Illustrative example: a candidate whose strongest category is Recreation/Travel may deserve attention for a travel resource. The same category needs a different explanation when the planned site is about accounting software. Inspect its former content and the referring pages rather than assuming that the name alone establishes relevance.
A mixed-topic profile is not automatically a problem. A general publication, a community site or a resource cited by several disciplines can legitimately receive varied links. Assess the reason for the mixture.
Investigate a topic mismatch
Review available archive captures and visit a sample of source pages. Do the anchors describe the former subject? Do target paths suggest an old project? Can a new site reasonably serve the users following those links?
When a domain has changed purpose, metrics can reflect link history that does not match the current content. Add an explicit “topic fit” field to your shortlist so the score cannot conceal the mismatch.
Keep empty categories as missing information. The absence of a reported category is not proof that the domain has no topic or no meaningful references. Compare the other fields and the visible evidence.
Use categories in a bulk review
- Fetch domain metrics with the bulk domain checker.
- Keep all reported category/value pairs and the original TF and CF.
- Tag likely topic matches for review; retain mixed or missing categories in a separate queue.
- Open the backlink checker to inspect source and target context.
- Save your topic-fit decision with the lookup date and supporting observations.
For a software pipeline, the domain metrics API returns the category pairs alongside the other fields in one successful request per domain.
Questions
Is Topical Trust Flow a percentage of my links?
No. Each topic has a modelled score. It is not a share of the backlink rows and the category scores need not sum to 100.
Does a matching category make an expired domain safe to buy?
No. It is useful context. Confirm current links, prior content, name suitability and the practical purpose of the purchase.
